My name is Laura , I’m 10 years old. I will talk to you about sushi. The sushi is Japanese. My family and I eat a lot of sushi. I don’t know how to cook it neither do my mother or sister. I always eat sushi because we used to live in Miami and in Miami we always ate it.
Last year my father traveled to United States and he ate all types of sushi. When he came back he took us to a Japanese place in Acassuso (outskirts of Buenos Aires) and we ate a lot of sushi. Now that place is closed and a new one called Sushi Bar opened.
My grandma works in an organization called AIMA which helps people all around the world to get adapted to Argentina´s culture. There a lot of Japanese and Chinese women in AIMA. My grandma knows how to cook sushi but she never cooks it because the ingredients are imported from Japan.
The sushi is very important to me because it is a dish that I share with my sister and I like it very much. There a lot of types of sushi rolls, but these are the ones I like best: Umejiso - maki - negitoro-maki -- Utoro-maki -- Otoro-maki -- oshinko --
I like these sushi rolls because they have cream cheese and salmon with a bit of pepper.

Hello, my name is Gabriela. I’m 10 years old and I live in Argentina.
I choose the recipe of the peanut butter sandwich, because when I was little I used to live in Maryland, United States. I ate it almost every day for breakfast and for lunch. It reminds me of the time when I lived there and I ate it with my friends and my brother.
It’s sweet and sticky. When I moved, I couldn’t buy it in Argentina because it’s special from the culture of the States. Here you could eat it for tea or for breakfast but not for lunch. Now my father, when he goes to the United States, he brings two or three little jars of peanut butter because in Argentina you can’t get it. After eating it my brother and I have all our mouth filled with peanut butter. Also there’s a song of the sandwich for kids. I still like it but I eat it less than when I was little. I miss it.

MATE
Recipe
The mate is prepared with yerba (which is the herb) and hot water; it is very simple but you must be careful that the yerba doesn’t become old, because its produces stomach aches. You can’t use boiled water either. It is very tasty and it can be drank bitter or sweet. I like having it sweet, that means that you add some sugar to the yerba. Mate is green and you drink it on a special cup called mate. It is like a ceremony, people who will drink get together and only one is in charge of pouring the hot water into the cup. You use a “bombilla” to absorb the water, and when you finished drinking it you pass it on to the one with the kettle. Then he passes it on to a new person, everyone takes turns, as only one mate is being served.
Essay
Hello, I am Marina, I am from Buenos Aires, I am 11 years old. I am going to tell you about a typical argentine drink called MATE. Mate is as tea-like beverage consumed mainly in Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay and southern Brazil. It is brewed from the dried leaves of the tree Ilex paraguarensis ("Yerba Mate"). The name "Mate" derives from the quichua word "matí" that names the “cup” that is traditionally used to drink the infusion.
When we go on vacations all my family drinks a lot of mate. The mate is a symbol of my family because when my mother was born, my grandmother started to drink mate, and the same happened with my mother, my aunt, etc. When my uncle comes to my house I drink mate with him.

• Cheese

2. Cut the tomato in slices
3. Take some leaves from the lettuce
4. Cut the cheese
5. With a knife, spread the mayonnaise
6. Between the loaves of bread, put the cheese, the tomato and the lettuce
Essay
I’m Jesica N. I’m ten years old and I live in Buenos Aires. I selected sandwiches because I like them very much, because on weekends my father prepares them home-made and sometimes I help him. This is a tradition of my family: my grand grand father did them and my grand father helped him and teached to my father and I am going to teach it to my sons or daughters. I always wait for weekends to eat my father’s sandwiches. In general they have cheese, tomato, lettuce and bread.
I found a legend about them: once upon a time, in England there was a lord called Lord Sandwich. He was playing cards with other lords and ladies, and suddenly he looked at his watch: 12:00 time for lunch; he was hungry but he couldn’t stop the game. He said to the waiter: “bring to me two loaves of bread with meat in the middle”. They all got surprised about this: eating meat between two loaves of bread and without fork or knife! The waiter brought his invented meal and he continued playing cards and eating; all at the same time. A friend of the Lord Sandwich liked his idea and ordered exactly the same plate. And like this, this quickly type of food was invented. You can eat it with cheese, tomato, lettuce, milanesa or meat.

Hello, my name, is Julieta, I am 10 years old. I am going to talk about Vanilla Pudding. We believe that this pudding comes from Poland, because my great-grandmother made it. In Poland my great-grandmother had a bakery, we believe that this pudding was sold very much because it is delicious and easy to prepare. At that time the electric mixer or blender did not exist, but they mixed everything using hands. The ingredients are very economic or cheap.
My grandmother also makes it when I go to her house because she knows that I like it very much. In my house my mom prepares it for birthdays or special occasions. When I eat it, I remember my grandmother and my great-grandmother. I couldn’t meet her, but this recipe makes me think that she was so sweet as this pudding is, and as sweet as my grandmother is.

Food Facts: Pizza Trivia
Did you know that Pizza originated in Egypt, Greece and Rome, and is three thousand years old? The ancient civilizations of the Mediterranean Sea had many examples of dishes that resembled pizza in their ingredients, composition and cooking. In ancient Egypt, for example, the custom was to celebrate the birthday of the Pharaoh by eating a flat bun seasoned with herbs. At the same time, various greek authors have written about different kinds of "pizza", like the so-called "maza" . Naples, however, is considered the starting (and then worldwide distribution) point of pizza!

Hello, my name is Ariel; I am nine years old I chose this recipe of Dulce de leche. I’m from Argentina and I like to eat the food from my country. This recipe comes from Argentina because here there are many dairy cows and the dulce de leche (milk jam) is based on milk.
When my mother makes a cake with dulce de leche, I usually get a spoon and dip it into the dulce de leche and eat it from the jar. We use Dulce de leche for cakes, cookies; we eat it simply with a spoon and with the toasts for breakfast and teatime. One day I was eating dulce de leche from the jar and all the dulce the leche fell on me.
"Dulce de leche is the Latin American Nutella," some people say, adding, "caramelized milk" or "milk jam." Dulce de leche is a very sweet spread. Like nice and thick butterscotch sauce."While it provides a sweeter alternative to jelly, jam, and peanut butter, dulce de leche also makes a tasty dessert filling, especially for alfajores, Argentina's distinctive powdered-sugar cookies.
Created by accident, dulce de leche traces its history back to 1829 in Cañuelas, a province of Buenos Aires. Tradition holds that a servant left a pot of milk and sugar boiling on the stove for too long, resulting in a soft paste that soon began to tempt palates across the country as an accompaniment to pastries.

Essay
My name is Mariano Z. , I am 10 years old and live in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I chose meat with potatoes, because when I was a baby when I went to my grandmother’s house we ate this food. Since then, I enjoy it so much because my grandmother cooks very well. This food comes from my great grandmother’s culture; my family has lived for a long time in Argentina.
Now when I go to my grandmother’s house I eat hamburgers or hot dogs, but my favorite dish is still the meat with potatoes she prepares. I wish she would prepare it more times. Whenever we eat at her house, we usually sit in the garden. Now in my house sometimes my mother cooks this. In Argentina many people like eating this food.

Essay
Hi, my name is Flor S, I’m 11 years old. I live in Argentina. I am going to talk about the barbecue; in Argentina we call it the "asado". The origin of the recipe is from Argentina. Every Thursday night we eat barbecue and this is special to my family. I have eaten it since I was 2 years old, when we had it on Saturdays. The memories I associate it with, is that when my father does the barbecue I help him, so it is a good memory, because when I eat it I remember I had helped him. For some of my birthdays we prepare barbecue and all my family members come to my house. When I go to my grandfather’s house I eat barbecue with my cousins and my uncles too.
We all like to eat barbecue, and we also like to prepare it. The different step on the preparation from a typical asado is that I eat kosher food, and it is related with my religion, which is Jewish. In Argentina we eat a lot of meat because there are lot of cows and we breed them.

Essay
Hello, I´m Deborah T. I am 11 years old, I live in Argentina, Cap. Fed. I am going to talk about Kibbe. Kibbe´s origin is Arabian, but Jewish people eat it a lot. I belong to the Jewish community in Buenos Aires, Argentina. It’s a typical Jewish custom to eat kibbe. I only eat kosher food. Kosher preparation separates milk from meat .A different group of dishes is used for meat and for milk. Kosher food has to be supervised by a Rabbi, if not it’s not totally kosher. The animals have to be killed in a special way. The person who kills the animals is called "Shojet". When I am with all my family I always eat Kibbe because we all like it, and my grand mother cooks it. I don’t have any memories associated to it, and I don’t know any tale about it because there aren’t many persons who know this dish.

Essay
My name is Carolina V. I am 10 years old and when Miss Veronica told me about this project. I decided to choose this recipe, which I called "strawberry and cream roll". When I was 8 years old I went to a bar or bakery and I bought this roll. I used to do this often. Last year this bakery shop stopped making this roll, so sometimes I have to cook this roll by myself. I must be sincere and say that the one I had at the bakery was more delicious! Not all my family like this roll because my sisters don’t like cream so much. This recipe is very special for me because it is delicious and I like to cook it. It is very easy to prepare, all the ingredients can be found in supermarket.
