I believe that I am very lucky to have the home that I live in and the family that cares for me. In today’s society many children live on the streets and are starving to death. They are in danger just walking to school. I am lucky that I live in a very safe town.
I believe today’s society is very unforgiving and anyone can be gunned down just because of what they are or how they act or what they believe in. Someone could come and take innocent children and kill them just because they are upset or confused. Many people are living in big houses with fancy cars and anything they want, but some don’t even care about the starving people in the world.
We are also hurting the environment along with ourselves. We are always wasting and cutting down trees and killing too many animals. We are not all bad. We have many great people who are willing to do anything for anyone. I am not trying to say that the world is bad. I am just trying to say we could be a lot more careful and happy.

I recognize that right now I am incredibly ignorant to the world around me. I only communicate with a very small group of people who are supporting me and pushing me to a successful future. I realize that having these opportunities is unusual, and I try not to take them for granted. I hope that I will find my purpose in this world when it comes time to decide what to do with my life.
Whenever a terrible tragedy occurs close to home, we are once again reminded of the vast number of unsolved problems just in our own community, not even considering the events on the rest of the planet. True world peace is impossible to achieve among humans, but there is certainly room for improvement. It is the nature of all humans to begin to live life only for themselves if the suffering of others is not often called to our attention. But it is also amazing how generous people can be.
I can only hope that I will always remember to serve others at the same time I serve myself. I can always trust my family to guide me in the right direction when I forget, as I do so often. I am still a child, but soon I must find my purpose in life. I believe that a better world can be achieved if everyone finds a passion or a true reason for living. Many people never come to realize what is important to them until their lives are ending, when it is too late to change. The best contribution they can give to their world is to teach their children what is important, and hope that they will remember and live fulfilling lives

Peace, a word in which people put all their hopes when their world is ripped apart. War-torn countries have never known peace, yet I have never known anything but pacifism.
My world has never been at war; here in the U.S the only tragedy that Ive ever truly witnessed and knew about was the horrific attack on the twin towers in New York. This terrible incident has led the way to many more disturbances of the peace here in our country. Things like "The War on Terrorism" and now the invading of Iraq have struck me as different and absurd. However, I cannot shut my eyes and ears to this and it will always affect my life.
Peace in some countries is unheard of and many people are ignorant of it. The warring countries in the Middle East are always in conflict, whether it is religious differences or racial beliefs, it is always the same. To solve these cataclysmic fights we need to help these people on a large scale.
The Red Cross and many other organizations such as the Peace Corps have worked on supplying these poverty-stricken countries with food and other much needed provisions. To help out with these issues we should stop these horrible wars in the Middle East and begin to show what is right and what is not. I am not saying that we should change their culture but they should understand things such as womens rights.
Despite the sheltered life I live, I know that I can make a difference, whether I save up money to donate to the Salvation Army or just help out by helping my own community. No matter how unimportant you think you are, you can always begin change by giving a helping hand wherever it is needed. Peace...

Life, can it have a value? Does one person’s life mean more than the other? Or do we all value ourselves more than ever? Isn’t the whole world run by opinions? How can anything be right or wrong? Yet, it is. Nobody knows all, or can tell all. All are valued by what they know and what they know is valued by opinion. It seems the whole world is ready for war.
We want to blame somebody- we want to find wrong with each other- we want to hate and fall at knees to evil; the devil without knowing. God has brought us together as one and we are all connected. Yet, we pull apart. Everyone are brothers and sisters and when we hurt them deep down, we are hurting ourselves. Yet, the world seethes to believe. We accuse the innocent and forget the wrong. We think of small things and forget the big. We have wronged the earth, its animals, and people. We think we’re right. But all together-we are wrong- its all our fault- some don’t care- some are wrapped up in greed- we don’t have time- we don’t truly want to change. We put those reasons before us as excuse for what we don't want to do. It takes time from what we truly want to do- be lazy and stare at a black box forever never thinking about the world. We just stare our lives away. We forget.
Evil is relative in a way what some may consider evil, some may consider good. We have to look in to the eyes of others. Someone might steal to save another's life. It may not be fair t pesucute other for that. Life may not always be fair- sorrow is for the weeping. It means life isn't fair, why do the rich win the lottery and how when we catch one bad guy, even more immerge?

Lucky. That is one word that describes my life. I feel extremely lucky to be able to eat food, whenever I desire, and to have clothes on my body. I know there are many people in this world who do not have the luxuries that I do, and I feel bad for all of those people, and I wish there was someway to help.
For my cousins graduation last year, I went to Washington D.C. As I walked back to the hotel, after getting some food from the store, I saw something that made my heart sink. A man with raggedy clothes was digging through the trashcan to eat a half-eaten sandwich, or to slurp up the last bit of Coke someone had thrown away. I looked down at the food in my hand, and it made me realize how fortunate I am.
Poverty is one issue that I feel strongly about, but I am also against violence and war. President Bush seems to almost want to go to war with Iraq, and I strongly disagree. "War, huh? What is it good for? Absolutely nothing." Those are the lyrics from a famous song, and I think that artist has gotten a good point across. I agree with him, and I think war is not the answer, and that there should be a way to solve our conflicts peacefully.
After thinking long and hard about my life, I know that I am blessed. I do not live in a place of poverty, where food, shelter, and clothing are scarce, but in a place where happiness is easy to find. The quality of my life is very good, and I am pleased with my life. I hope that someday all people will enjoy the same happy life that I do.

I believe that I am very fortunate to live in the community that I do. I have a family that cares a lot about me. I have a pet dog that loves me and is always asking for attention. My family is always there for me whenever I need them to be.
Almost all of my friends that I know have the same life that I do but many of the students in the school don’t. Some of the students in our school go home at night and their parents are never home. One of my friends down the street almost never sees her parents, but has a nanny instead. Many kids don’t even have a family to go home to at Christmas but have to go to a relative's house.
In India, they are always going hungry. They can't make enough money to support their family either because they can't find a job, or because their job just doesn't pay them enough money. There are always people in the streets begging for food and money. Here in the United States we are always throwing away food, where in the rest of the world there are people starving.
I think that in the United States we should not throw out all the food that we waste, but save it for later. When we go to a restaurant, we should also not order so much extra food that we don't eat, but only order what we can eat instead. Since people waste so much food, there would be a lot of food left over. With that food, we could feed many hungry people all over the world.

I think that pollution is a big problem in the world today. It destroys our O-Zone and it makes it hard to breathe. In cities, it also stinks. Have you ever smelled pollution? Its so smelly. It stinks like trash and smoke and it is just not right.
How would you like to have your trash destroying our earth? I mean, come on! People throw their trash wherever they want and when it gets full they throw it some place else. I saw someone sitting in their driveway in their car while it was running and the car was putting out so much smoke, he wasnt even driving!
But, there is something we can do about it. We can recycle and we can sometimes ride a bike someplace once in a while instead of driving there. Besides, dont we all have to live in this world? When I see somebody throwing trash on the ground, I pick it up and throw it away. I shouldnt have to do this. People should throw away their own trash in the trashcan. There is also noise pollution. Like in the city, people walk around with boom boxes with the volume cranked up to the top. It is so loud! I think that pollution is the worst. My idea of a perfect world would be a world with no pollution.
I hope you will consider helping the world in small or big ways. If you are already doing something, I hope you will continue to do so and maybe save someones or somethings life.

I can change the world by doing many big or little things. I could clean up a highway, create a walk for cancer, leukemia or any disease, or recycle all cans, newspapers, and bottles.
Many people don't realize that every little bit helps to make a difference to someone who is sick, underprivileged or even having a hard time with their family or work. Some people are starving or suffering from a deadly disease. You should use what you have and help those people or find the way to change the world for the generations to come.
I have done some little things that will hopefully help the world. A couple years ago I went to Jamaica and they had some kittens that young visitors would feed and make sure they were not missing. I fed them and took care of them. One day, one of the kittens got his paw stuck in a kite rope. It got so tight that I used a butter knife and cut it off. My dad, who is a doctor, looked at it and said that it was bleeding and very swollen. He also said if I didn't find the kitten, the kitten could have died.
For my bat mitzvah, I also did some community work. A home for cats was opened. They would go from the SPCA to the home, where they would be adopted. I helped out there for four months and became very attached and happy for the cats when they were adopted.

I live a very comfortable and happy life. By this, I mean, I do not have to worry about getting food, water, or clothes. I am glad that I live in a country where everyone is treated equal, especially that women have the same rights as men.
I do not like how our country is constantly worrying about the next terrorist attack or what will be the next move in the Middle East. We should take action instead of trying to anticipate what will happen next. I wonder, what would my life would be like if I lived in a different country? I do not know what my life would be like if I lived in a different country. Maybe I would not be educated or have the same goals and values, maybe I would not have the same religion.
I hope that in the future there will be no more guns or war, so everyone can have the same rights and be equal. I also hope that everyone in the world can receive the same education. If this happened then everyone could live an equally happy life.
I consider the amount of people that are living in poverty horrible. Those people are not able to supply enough food to support their families and they don’t have a roof over their heads. There are shelters that they are able to live in and some help that they can receive, but are these people really happy? What other options can they have to support themselves and not depend on other people completely for support?
I think that there should be homes that people could go to like apartments that would help them get jobs and financial stability. After awhile these people could start paying rent, just like an average family would.

I think that my life as an adult would definitely benefit from the things that our generation does to help each other and our environment. If we sit and let the world become a polluted dump for all the junk we have accumulated, what is it going to look like for our grandchildren? This is why I believe we need to change the way Americans and other people from well-off countries think and how they live their lives.
If people continue to take things for granted, we may end up in a polluted and destroyed world sooner than we think. Right now, many people leave lights on, or waste water every day. No one thinks about all the people in the world who don't even have homes, or running water. We should all just try to be more careful about the things we use every day.
The American population in general also needs to start using less food. We all take full stomachs and three meals a day for granted when there are so many people in the world with no food at all. We should try using smaller portions and putting extra food in compost bins or something of that nature. Not only will this help people in other places, but it will also benefit our planet as a whole. Composting and recycling are also some things we can try to do more often. It will help preserve our planet and make the world a better place to live in for everyone.
These are all some things that I think can help the people and everyone else we share our world with. So, every time youre eating or doing anything else involving water or electricity, remember all the people in our world. I hope everyone will be more considerate towards the world and the beings in it.

Every morning I wake up in a wonderful suburban area in the United States of America - the "land of the free." The morning also brings a day full of worries like what is the weather going to be like, how safe is school, will my grade go down because I forgot to do homework or what am I going to wear to school? I always think about myself. But, when I realize that, I begin to feel ashamed for thinking only of my life when there is a world full of others.
I am surrounded by a world of middle-class people like myself and never see people struggling to get food or money. I have all my needs catered for by others. I have lots of family, friends, food and enough money to be happy.
Then, when I thought everything was all right, September 11th happened only a few hours from my house. Ever since then, locked away inside of me, is a feeling of insecurity. I will never forget that day in my head as it repeats like a broken record. Since then, I started worrying a lot about my safety.
September 11th made me realize how fortunate I was that none of my family or friends were killed or hurt. It made me want to help people who were suffering in third world countries and in my neighborhood. I try to help out with charity because I know how much more fortunate I am than other people. I always think about others and shed a tear for people that are not enjoying a great life the way I am.
I think I have a great life and want to live it to the fullest. I will always think of others and try to help the less fortunate than I and help the handicapped (like my brother). I adore my grand life!

When I get up in the morning, I feel too tired to be happy or thankful or scared. After about 8:30 is when my day really starts. When I go got school, I feel that my education is important. I believe that I have good teachers. I do not know if they are good compared to schools in other states. My education is probably better that most, and I am annoyed that there are some kids in other countries, or in poor parts of this country, who want to learn, but poor or experienced teachers retard their learning ability.
I expect a lot from my community. I hate it when I take advantage of my community and not realize it until later. From my community I expect protection, food, kindness, civil rights, shelter, and money when I need it, and help when I need it. I think I ask for a lot but not way too much. My community provides this almost all the time. I feel blessed by all this. Sometimes, I feel I need to share the wealth. I will try to learn how to do that.
I feel that there are too many people in the world. I am trying to come up with a solution to this problem, without having many people unhappy. I have come up with made up laws, and made up educators on population control. One of my pet peeves is when I see someone with like 10 kids. I get annoyed.
In my future, I hope to go to college.

I believe that I am an incredibly fortunate person. I have a great family, who cares about me and supports me. I have great friends, who are always there for me. Lastly, I have an incredible nation. I am free to do whatever I want. School is only 7 hours, and besides that, I’m able to make my own decisions about what to do with my life.
However, I know that in other places in the world, people are afraid to go to the supermarket, if they even have a supermarket, or even afraid to open the door. People are working from 4:00 in the morning to very late at night. Even the little children have to work this much. I do not believe that they have a good quality of life. To wake up in the morning, do work and go to school all day, and go to sleep at night, and then do the same thing the next day, must be very hard. There is nothing to look forward to!
I would hate to wake up in the morning and think about how my family and friends could die that very day, very easily in war. I would hate to think about such horrible thoughts.
If only people in the world could stop fighting, nobody would ever have to think these thoughts. People fight about things from the past and things that they have heard other countries have done to their own precious country. If only no one could do anything bad to other countries, and we could just delete the past and look for the future, the world could become a much better place, with no fighting and violence. This way, maybe people in other countries could receive the gift of a good quality in life.

I have a great quality of life today. However, some people in this world are not as lucky as I am. I have a wonderful family: Dad, Mom, brother and sister. I also have great best friends: Meghan, Beth and Nikki. What makes my quality of life the best is living in the United States. In my country you have the right to your own religion and you are not criticized because of your own opinions. I am thankful everyday when I wake up and am able to turn on the water faucet and out comes fresh water. I would definitely not be able to cope with having to go get my own water everyday.
However, in other places in the world children are responsible for taking care of their family and that is why I am lucky to be only responsible for small household chores and educating myself. In the morning the things on my mind are: “When am I going to go over to my friends house this weekend?” or “Did I finish that English assignment?” I would hate to have to think about if there would be any danger tomorrow, which are probably what Afghanistan children might have to do.
Concerning the world’s future, I am a little worried about going to war. I do not want to have to go to bed every night scared that something might happen to my wonderful country. When 9/11 hit us, I was scared to ever go on a plane again and I was horrified that something would happen that might hurt someone I know. That is why I hope that we will be able to work things out without violence.
In conclusion, I am very proud of my country and our quality of life. I just hope that someday everyone in the world is as lucky as I am.

I think that my quality of life is very high. In the future, I hope to become a lawyer very well known throughout the country and maybe even world.
I expect that my community keeps me safe from harm and is environmentally friendly. This means that I do not want to live where there is always trash on the ground and where the air is always dirty and smoky. I expect that my neighbors will not judge each other based on the color of their skin, or their ethnic background.
If I had the power, I would make sure that all countries were at peace with each other. Though I know it would be very difficult to have each country be "best friends" with each other, but at least we would not be going into war with each other. If this happened I think that the world would be a much better and different place. Instead of the countries' leaders worrying about other countries planning to bomb them, they could spend more of their time dealing within their countries. The world would be safer if each country gets safer.
I think that to ensure a positive future we should always keep our minds open to others' ideas. If we do not listen to each other nothing will ever change and the world will ALWAYS be the same. I think that the "little people" need to start, by not allowing each other to be prejudice. After these people make a difference with each other, the governors and president will also start to make the world a better place.

My quality of life is based on how much love and friendship I feel daily, monthly, yearly even for my lifetime. I don't base mine on money, because if you have money, does it really make you happier as a person? Can it make you have real friends and have your family love you? I don't believe it can.
However, my family is not exactly rolling in money, so if I believe that my quality of life is based on money and the "happiness" it buys, then I would be frowning and moping all the time. When I grow up, I expect that my community will give me the respect I deserve for my accomplishments, and not vanquish any of my hopes or dreams with hateful, spiteful words and actions. I say this because my dream since first grade has been to be a woman president. (Maybe not the first, but one at least.) I think that it is pretty amazing that I have had this dream for all of this time, since I am now a seventh grader.
When I was in first grade, I said I wanted to be president just because everyone had weird career aspirations, and I thought that being president was weird and cool - plus, you get to be famous and travel all around the world! Now I want to be president for completely different reasons. (Okay, well, maybe I do want to be famous and travel!) One of those reasons is that I can and will be able to make a change in our country, maybe even in the world.
One of the first changes I would make would be to cut down on poverty and world hunger. I know I may have a pretty obvious way of changing the world, but I hope that both my dream for and my dream to change the world come true

I am glad that we live in a world that we can act on our own. It is pleasant that I can help others and give and promote good things. The world is filled with things that we can live safely. But now we have to deal with war, hate, and injustice. We have to deal with poverty. I have been to nations that don’t know they are in poverty; they deal with it and live.
In my life I can wake up and be glad and see the world in a different way. I can see we need help in pollution. Pollution is bothering me. One day the world will be ruined because of it. I hope the world should do more about the helping and get rid of it.
I hope you can make more schools get in to it. I am glad that I have a good life. My family did not come from a lot and they lived near poverty. I am glad I do not have to deal with that or bringing in danger. I am glad that I can meet new people go to different places. I enjoy going to a neighbor’s house and giving them gift near the holidays.

This world has many problems and many things that it needs to improve on. Maybe not in the world I know, but they are out there. Violence, starvation, and destruction of our natural resources are just a few things that are not too good about this Earth.
When I wake up in the morning, I have breakfast, get dressed, walk to the bus stop, and go to school. While doing this daily routine, I don't have to think about budgeting what I eat, if I have any clothes, and if I'm being educated.
Meanwhile, other people have as much food as I have in one meal, wear the same clothes every day, work in the fields, and don't get educated at all. They dream of a life like mine: with food, no terrorism, and a place to be educated.
Even though this world is a big place, there are things people like me can do to help these people and their dreams. You can donate food, clothing, toys, toothpaste, shampoo, or brushes. You can volunteer time to help organize food for those who need it, which I have done in the past. If you were really dedicated, you could travel to the areas where weak technology and starvation are present, and help educate people on how to make life more suitable and beneficial.
There are billions of people on this earth, and many have a life far worse than ours. People in the government are helping, making laws or sending people to foreign countries to help out. Organizations are helping by donating money. Other people just like you and me are out there every other day, helping people. Every person can make a difference, no matter how small or quiet they are. We have to believe we, as people, can help make a difference in the world.

I think that I am a very lucky person. I have a wonderful family that cares about me. My parents came from India to have better opportunities for themselves and for me. There are many homeless people in India. It has now become an overpopulated country.
When I go to other places, such as a friend’s house, I always see one thing that disturbs me. There is always one person that doesn’t have anyone to play with, or one person sitting on the side of the road. I’m not saying that they are poor or don’t have such a good life quality, but it is just that one moment that they feel lonely. I know that there are people in worse situations, where they are starving or something like that, but I still feel obligated to help those people who are homeless and the people that have no one to play with.
One of my goals for my future is to start a homeless shelter or something to benefit the less fortunate men, women, and children of this world. I am very lucky to have a wonderful life and great opportunities and I am willing to help others to get a better life quality.

I think that life in America is fantastic. We have no slavery, no woman is ever thought of as just a cook or a cleaner and most people respect other peoples' differences. America has come together after 9/11, and Americans have been more patriotic and appreciative of what they have. I, for one, am very lucky.
My family is happy and healthy, and they love me. I live in a nice house in a great neighborhood. I am fortunate enough to have clothes to wear and shoes to put on my feet, but some people arent as lucky as I am.
Another issue that is very important to me is violence. Ever since guns and swords have been introduced to the United States, riots and homicides have been larger than ever! Unnecessary homicides have been happening so much. Just today, I heard of a person who got drunk with his buddy, and there were only two more beers in the refrigerator. One of the men took a beer and told his friend to stay away from the other one. Of course the mans friend took the last beer, and his best friend shot him to death!
Some games influence young children to use their parents' guns, but I dont think parents should even keep a gun in their house. Security systems are a great way to protect your family, and they cannot hurt anyone. Some security systems even cost less than guns do. In conclusion, I think that some people in America take life for granted and dont respect what they have. I also think that violence is unnecessary, and that the world would be a better place without it. Please keep in mind that having a weapon in your house might change your childrens lives forever.

The world today is very different than what it will be in the future and what it was millions of years ago. The people have changed and so have the plants and animals. The way our ancestors lived and the way we are living right know is almost a completely different world.
We do not wear the same things they wore; we do not eat most of the same food; and the way we go about our daily lives is very different. My main point is we are a moving human race and do not, and will not, stay with the same quality of life for a very long period of time. We have always tried to find ways to improve our life or tools and inventions to make our lives easier. The quality of life is very different in different parts of the world that we now live in. Some people are rich, some are poor - there are endless differences. Some people can get all the food, money, and riches they want, while others have not enough food or provisions to get through a week.
My hope for the future is that all people have a chance to be equal in the way they live for at least one day so the more fortunate people can see how lucky they are. My quality of life is very good, compared to some unfortunate people around the world. My question is what of the people who don't have the food they need? I know by news and television shows that there are so many suffering children and adults out there, whose state- and quality of life is so pitiful that it should make even a very tough person upset.
One way I think that we can ensure a better and positive future is by making sure that the unfortunate people who do not have much get provisions to make their way of life better.

In my eyes, the quality of life differs between people. For a person like me, it is easy to take all we have for granted. In most homes in the U.S., children complain about not having "name-brand" clothing or not being able to go to the movies. In other parts of this country and others, children complain about not having any clothes at all! Or, they worry about how to survive without food. Our life is easier than the majority of the world, and yet we always need to have more and more.
Another strong topic for me is the amount of violence in our world today. I think it would be interesting to do an experiment like this one. Every night, for at least a week, watch the news and record how many murders, shootings, rapes and beatings there are each day. After you record the results, look at the totals for each category. I guarantee that the numbers will be higher than you expected. The point of all this is that there is more violence today then there has ever been in a long time. I find it very important to try to lower these numbers and stop all the violence.
Education in some schools also has a lot to do with quality of life. My aunt is a teacher in Philadelphia. The work of a teacher there is almost unbearable. Every day at her school my aunt has to break-up many fights. Also, some of the thirty kids in her fourth grade classroom cant read at all. My aunt gets threatened every day, and even has a student who is on probation. My point is that education in the city is very challenging and needs a lot of improvement. Overall, quality of life is very important to me, and I believe that we should be thankful for all we have.

In my opinion, the world is a wonderful place. There is separate peace in every country, but separate peace is not enough. There are wars and violence, but no peace. If we all had peace, we could work together to do something big.
There would be no violence and wars. Nobody would be murdered or killed. Nobody would have to worry about his or her brothers going to war. Everybody would have their complete family for Christmas, because there wouldnt be any relatives fighting in Afghanistan, or any other country. Nobody would have to go through the trouble of seeing family die because of war.
There would be no hunger, because the whole world would work together to feed the hungry. Nobody would starve to death, and there would be no misery in the world. We could work together to free the Earth of pollution. The oceans would be clean, and all the animals could live in a safe environment.
My life is very good, and I get a lot of things I dont really need. While I get all the food and water I need, some people are dying of thirst and hunger. I have shelter and a big backyard. Others are living on the streets, and people rarely think about how much they really have.
We are very lucky to have a good education like we have today. We learn everything we need to know. We even learn foreign languages. Teachers try very hard to make the best of our future by teaching us as much as possible. If we had world peace, then we could work together to achieve new goals and we could enjoy a world with no flaws, where everyone is happy.

I think my life is great. I have many things that some people do not have. I never think my life is that great, until I look at a child who is not as fortunate than I am. Then I realize my life is great, and I am glad to be as fortunate as I am.
I still think there are problems with the world. One thing I think is wrong is that all people cannot be treated equally. Some people judge others because of their culture or looks. I think we can improve the world by not judging people, and treating everyone equally.
I also think that in the world there is too much violence. On the news you always hear about someone who robbed a bank, or shot someone. I do not like to hear about these depressing things. There are also too many wars. Wars should not be a way to solve problems.
One other problem is world hunger. It is not much of a problem where I live, but I hear about it a lot. There is not enough food for some communities. I have done food drives though my CCD.
To solve all of these problems, people need to be more caring. Too many people are selfish, and do not care about the homeless, or the sick. Many people commit crimes. I think that is wrong, and they should be more caring. Many people in the world are kind, but the few who are not need to become kind.
I realize my life is much better than some other countries. I would like the world to be a better place. Maybe someday it will be very peaceful, and that is how I would like it to be.

When I wake up in the morning I think of my day and how it will turn out. But, I think of others days too. I think about what time it is in Tokyo or what’s going over in the outback; what it would be like in another country or if a school is letting out in a far away place.
I know that my family would always love me and help out with me and they are always there for the good or bad times.
I know that there is bad and evil in the world such as pollution or the abuse given to people. But, I know that there will be someone to always stop that wrong and give the right needed in today’s world.
I always wonder if there is an oil spill in Alaska or an ozone layer hole over are heads and we think that this is a big problem. It seems it's never fixed!
I know that there is poor in the world and no food to fill their stomachs and we try to fix these errors in the world. Whether it’s a war over in Iraq or a bombing in Pakistan, we're fixing our problems one by one.

When I think of a good life, I think of sunny beaches, and lots of ice cream and all that good stuff. But to some people, a good life is being together as a family and having enough food for their children because they dont even have that.
Many families are subject to unfair treatment from their governments. They dont have enough land to farm on, or good drinking water, or medical care. In order to survive, they must tear apart the environment that is giving them life.
Quality of life should be the same for all people, young and old, rich and poor, male and female. Why should people be living in mansions and have six cars when there are people who have to walk six miles just to get contaminated drinking water?
Quality of life should also be the same for the plants and animals we share this world with. If we treat the environment with respect, we are treating ourselves with respect, because the earth is what gives us life.
I believe that the first step towards helping bring peace and quality of life to this world is to become aware of the poverty and violence around us. With awareness comes understanding, and when people understand the situation, they will realize that the path to peace means to share and to give. They will learn that the best solution is not to go to war or ignore poverty in the hope that it will eventually go away.
It is to be grateful for what you have, and to help others get what they need. It is to plant a tree, and recycle a can. It is to be kind to your enemies. It is to stand up for the peace you believe in. As long as there are people in this world who believe in this, there will be peace.

If you look at the "quality of your life" as being how positive you think your life is, I think my life is about as good as it's going to get. Compared to some people who don't have enough to eat, or don't have any friends, I have a great life. I not only have a strong house, I have heat and air conditioning, and my own room, which is pretty good in this world. I have enough to eat, and I have fresh water. I go to a great school and I have plenty of friends.
I'm not rich. I don't live in a mansion. I'm not the most popular kid in school, and I don't wear the coolest clothes. I'm not the most talented person. But, then I think about kids in some parts of Africa and Russia, who are starving to death, uneducated, or sick. I would not want to be those kids, but I would not want to have a perfect life either - it would be boring, and everyone needs some imperfection in their lives.
If I had the power to change the world, I would let every child know that they are loved--especially the kids in Africa and poor places, or just kids that are depressed. I would let them know not to hate themselves, because they are not bad people. Just because someone is not rich or not pretty doesn't mean that they can't be great. Even kids who get bad grades can do great things - think of Albert Einstein! Millions of people are giving people food and clothing, so I want them to be happy in body AND in mind. Also, I would give every child an education, because learning is probably the most valuable gift I can think of.

A life full of good quality is the most important thing in the world. Everyday, American students are taking advantage of their lives. They claim that their lives may be worthless and boring, but if they compared their lives to the lives of some other people living in various countries, they will truly feel they are blessed.
Every morning when I wake up, I almost always have something to complain about. But, when I read a book or learn about other areas of the world, I truly feel that I am very lucky. I feel as if I would like to make a change for the people who are living lives of poverty and starvation. I also want to help improve the environment.
I used to claim that I really wanted to help people and the environment, but I never really got anywhere. After I tried once and it failed, I gave up. Now I try to be persistent and continue to help people. After attending a religious session every Sunday for over 8 years, I learned that even one person could make a difference. I can collect trash from parks and other areas around me for a start. Also, I normally donate money to education funds.
I hope that one day I will be able to help people all around the world. After hearing about people such as Mohandas Gandhi, Winston Churchill and Martin Luther King Jr. I would like to make a change too. "We should be the change we wish to see," are the words of Mohandas K. Gandhi, a peacemaker. This quote inspires me to do something, not just wait for someone else to do it. It tells me that if I want something to be changed, then I must work hard towards this.

I have a pretty good life. I have food to eat, a place to live, loving parents and a brother. A lot of people do not have these things, especially people in third- world countries. We should be thankful that we have these things and think about how other children don’t. We need to donate to charities and help others. I respect the Peace Corps a lot because they help others and try to help solve the problems in third- world countries.
At our school we are doing a program called Change for Change. This is when children at our school donate money that we use for gift certificates so less fortunate children have a warm winter coat and warm clothes for the winter.
Violence is another thing that bothers me. How can a parent leave a gun out in their house unlocked where a child could reach it? I don’t think that guns should be kept in the house at all. Children are killed everyday, innocently, because of gun, gang or another type of violence.
After September 11, I have been scared to live my life. I am always thinking in the back of my mind “Will terrorists attack today?” My parents are divorced. My dad lives in New Jersey and works in New York. When I heard that the terrorists hit, I didn’t know if my dad was in the World Trade Centers. Before the date, he told me that he goes there for occasional meetings and I didn’t know if he was there on September 11. I was scared and I am still scared. I also hope that this horrible act does not turn into a war. What happened already was bad enough but going to war would be even harder. People would have to leave their families and risk their lives to fight for our country. I have discussions with my family about what might happen if we do go to war. The things we came up with are pretty terrible. I hope our country never get to the point that we need to go to war.
I would like to end on a positive note. I think that many people in the United States have a pretty good life. I am very thankful that I am privileged enough to live here and not in a country that has difficulties in their everyday life.

My life is great. I may not think that everyday, but when I stop to think, I am much more fortunate than others. I go to sleep every night in a warm bed, I eat a healthy lunch, breakfast, and dinner, and I have a family who loves me. Not everybody has these things but, when they get close to these things, they will treasure and remember them. I am really lucky that I have everything I need, but I should try to share that with the people who suffer. I share all that I can through my church, school, and my community.
I take life for total granted. I am mad when I don’t get something for my birthday that I want. At least I get something for my birthday. Even though I don’t look or think that I am spoiled, compared to the needy I am. This world is good, but not good enough. We can solve poverty, violence and other bad things, but some people these days area a little bit greedy. I think that we should have a world peace fund. It would be an organization that we give all of our extra money to.
Think of all the professional athletes out in this world. They have millions of dollars. Do they really need twelve cars? Do they really need seven mansions? Of course they don’t. If they could just give up some of that money, maybe everybody could start to need a new life, a better life. My belief is that if everybody had enough money to get enough food, a shelter, and water, they would be better persons. They wouldn’t try to steal, or kill people for stuff--they would just have it. If people would give up what they had and share with others, the world would be a better place.

Life is not the same today as it was many years ago. Man has created things that bring violence and suffering to the world. Those things were what caused many wars and conflicts between countries. Now, there is a war going on in the Middle East and many people are dying and getting hurt because of what life is today.
Stopping all of this violence and war can insure a positive future. We can all work together and stop this by working together to make friends and diminish hate.
We can make a change in reality by making peace. Peace, in my mind, is when there is no violence, no suffering, and no segregation. Everyone was created equally and they should be treated that way. We can make this a reality by doing volunteer work whenever you get an opportunity and donating time, money, clothes and food to a local shelter.
We can also work to stop wasting so other people can have things that we may take for granted. We can do this by using all of our resources wisely and, whenever you can, recycle or help the environment in any way that you can. We can work against the violence by trying not to cause problems in the first place. We can also work against this by helping each other and supporting each other in order to keep everybody together.
Now, the quality schools are different from the past, but in some places, we still can improve. In some third world countries, some people can't even go to school, because they have to work so their families can have money for food. We can help by doing all of the above so families can have food and kids have time to get an education. When we all work together, the world can be a different place--a different, but better place.

The quality of life is just another way to think of how a person lives and how a person dreams. Everybody lives differently. Everybody dreams differently. The only similarity is the ultimate dream of everybody, except for some.
The dream of America is to achieve peace within other countries. Also, to help other countries achieve freedom or peace. But, by attempting to achieve that, we sometimes have to eliminate people that pose a threat. That is the violent way. That is the way that we have chosen. But, there are more ways to deal with this. There are better ways to try to preserve the quality of life.
The people in that country could attempt to stand against their evil dictator. They could hold riots and do things that they think are right. Only if that has failed, then and only then, it is reasonable to ask for help from the military.
I think that it is better to try to solve problems within a country, rather than taking it out for the world to solve. Military actions such as war can result in the loss of life, indefinitely. Life should be preserved, not destroyed. The dream of America, should be everyone's dream.

I think that to make the world a better place, we need to be ourselves more often. People who express their beliefs, culture and individuality also have more respect for the way other people express themselves.
What I mean to say is, if you are the way you want to be, and not the way someone else wants you to be, you will start to understand the way other people think--like getting inside their heads. In other countries, where people are not as fortunate as I am, some people have to wear their hair the same way, are forced to believe in the same things, or abide by some laws that are against their better judgment. I think the 'way of the world' should be live free or die. It's all about expressing how you feel while trying to help others at the same time. But, if you only do what you want, than the world will still go down hill. You also have to take into consideration the feelings of others.
But also, where I live, there is alot of teasing about people who dress, talk, walk, and look different. These are all superficial things and you should really get to know someone before you judge them. And yet, we all do it. "She is so ugly." "His hair is so stupid." Being 'popular' seems to take over our lives, and that's not what counts. There will always be people that judge the outside and not the inside but, if we all try a little harder, maybe we can achieve something bigger. I think we'll call it 'Project Respect'. In conclusion, what I think that we can do to change the world for the better is, to do what you feel is right in your heart, but respect people for what is in theirs. Put 'Project Respect' into action.

I think that, in general, I have a great life. The thing that I appreciate most about living, is being a citizen of America. I realize that sometimes everyone takes advantage of living in America. I admit that I do this too. All people get mad and upset about things that they shouldnt stress over.
We dont realize that there are many people in the world that are much less fortunate than we are. Sometimes, when I get mad or upset about something stupid, I stop and think, "Should I really be mad about something like this?" Thats when I realize that in other countries, and even in America, people are starving. Some people dont get equal rights. Sometimes, innocent people are killed just for their religion, race, or standing up for their own rights.
I think that our first step on the path to world peace is realizing that there are people out there that we need to help. We have to stop our everyday lives just for a few minutes to stop and think, "How can I help someone who is starving, or who doesnt get any presents for the holidays?" You cant just stop there.
After you feel bad for someone who is less fortunate, you have to do something about it! Give money to a local charity. Give canned food to a food drive. Participate in a walk for cancer. Do something to help the people around you. Its up to the children of today to make peace tomorrow.

I think that in this day and age, after the 9-11 fiasco, the terrorists succeeded in what they were trying to get. They wanted to make us scared of flying, strike fear into everyday life. Now, some people open their mailboxes with latex gloves and doctor’s masks. People are afraid to travel for the holidays. I think the terrorists won.
Some people have the wrong idea about terrorism though. Some people think that all of Afghanistan or Pakistan is all terrorists. It doesn’t have just terrorists--it has people like you and me. Some people think blowing up the Middle East would solve our problem. I think that would cause a bigger problem. Killing innocent people? How would that make you feel? My mom’s friend visited Hiroshima, Japan. He said that seeing the memorial and the sadness made you feel really bad if you were American (which he was). Also, if you think about it, if you are Japanese and you go to the Pearl Harbor Memorial Site, it makes you feel bad because you took innocent lives. The way I see it is that you can kill people and make fear but that only brings you closer together.
Also, people (mainly in America but also other places) waste a lot of food. You order a hamburger and take two bites and throw the rest away. My dad always says that you should take a little and then if you want more take more. People in places like Afghanistan or India are starving and here we are wasting food.
If everyone just gave a little something back to their community you wouldn’t have to worry about whether or not you will have food on your table or be afraid to travel for the holidays.

When I look at my life--at the big picture--I consider it perfect. I have food to eat, a place to come home to, a great school, and a loving family. Sure, I have my petty problems like homework and chores. When you look at my life compared to that of a child in a third world country, I live the good life. I am a girl who can play sports, vote in the future, even become the president.
I try to be as helpful as possible to my environment as well. For example, for the last three years I’ve been in a Wissahickon Creek clean up. I care about the way the earth's animals are becoming extinct and how the rainforest is being cut down. I cannot see how people can look past things like that. Peace is not only needed in humans but also the environment needs our help to seek peace.
Have you ever thought about how you could change the world, how you could really make a difference? Everything you do, even picking up a wrapper that someone drops or just being happy with what you have and who you are, is making a small difference in the world. This means that one less person is near to suicide or one small innocent animal is not seen choking on that harmless dropped wrapper.
The world would be a more pleasant place to live when there is no hatred, no hunger, no worry, or fear. I can’t even begin to list all the things that need work. To help you need to start out with one small thing-and that’s caring. To make a difference and to have your heart set to it you need to really think and care about people and their emotions, the environment and animals. If everyone cared enough I’m pretty sure the world would be a better place.

I can wake up in the morning in my house and put on a pair of pants and a shirt, then I can go to the kitchen and eat breakfast. Right from there you can tell that I have a very high quality of life. A lot of people don't have a house to go home to, or a pair of warm clothes, or a meal to be eaten. There are too many of these people in the world and it is not their fault.
People living in America should help those in a needy country and in our own. My quality of life is so much better than theirs. I am very lucky.

Poverty; I consider this an unspeakable tragedy that is far too common in our world today. For me, it is not a problem. I have plenty of food, and a nice home to live in. I have no reason to complain.
But what about other parts of the world? Do people ever consider what adults and children alike have to go through each and every day just to be able to survive? While we are griping about the cost of groceries or the price of prescriptions, children may never get the opportunity to see a doctor.
Think about it- we take advantage of small things, such as being able to go to the faucet for a drink. We must remember that somewhere out there, people only receive contaminated water that they have to travel for miles everyday just to receive.
On TV I am sure that all of you have seen disturbing pictures of young children searching for scraps in a pile of garbage. Malnutrition affects hundreds of those children, and many of them die everyday. The children of the world are our future.
Illiteracy is a result of poor or no education, just because they have no money to hire teachers. If this is how our youth grows up being treated, what kind of society are we building on? There are many things that we can do each and every day to help solve this on-going problem. Food drives and donations, as well as raising money that would be put towards getting a child healthcare and a good education are just a few ways to help.
The only crime that these people committed was being poor, something that they cannot control. Please, remember that they are normal individuals just like you. They need help in life as well. We must do all that we can to assist our future generation.

The view of peace is different to everyone today. Viewing the world through my head would show a rolling field of grass. Wild animals would wonder towards you and not be afraid. But... not everyone sees the world like I do. Hitler was a fanatic, trying to "purge" the world of all he deemed as "unworthy" to exist in the world.
Presently, the Taliban are trying to terrorize us, creating a prejudice that some Americans hold against those who werent involved in the attacks. Our world that we live in was not created like this. Earth was a home to nomadic people, providing their every need.
But now, we have tipped the balance, instead of the people being equal in all terms of power and money, many have thrived in an abundance of luxury and money, while those who survive in poverty, struggle to live at all.
Pollution has corrupted our air, water and generally, our world. Acid rain is proof of the level of our pollution, raining down on tombstones, eroding the markings of the deceased. This does not help the living conditions of the poor. As an adolescent, I can try to help people strive for a better world of peace by encouraging them to persevere and tell them what a great job they have been doing. To help the poor and even up the balance of power and money, I can organize a fund to donate to the poor. To stem a small flow of pollution, I can recycle and reuse.
As an adult, I plan on becoming a philanthropist. Then I can help the poor by encouraging the rich to help improve living conditions for the poor. As for those who wish for war, I can help them see why a war would not and could not help humanity. This is a dream shared by many, but because of our numbers, it will, someday be a reality

Compared to other people, my life is great. I live in a nice house, friends, family, food, and good education. I would like to fix the starvation that is in other countries, and create peace between all nations and people. Usually, when I awake I dont think about what is happening to others--like the fact that some people are dying, starving, and even homeless.
However, when I see the news, I am instantly reminded of what is going on in the world. Sometimes, I think that whatever I do to help others is not good enough because there are so many people in the world that need help.
When I am in my enrichment class at school, we do a lot of things to help with peace such as writing peace diaries, writing to foreign schools, and making peace calendars. When making the calendar, every person in the enrichment program created a picture or wrote a poem. When we were finished we sent it to a printing company and sent one copy to each representative from our state, and the President of the United States. The profit we make from the calendars is sent to the local Red Cross.

Every day, there is a new killing or a new robbery. Every day, issues of murder and terrorism bombard my life. This is my life. The life of a post-9/11 American. My life is one of fear and anger. Fear of how vulnerable our country is and anger at how the hijackers of 9/11 could do something like slaughtering innocent people.
I am growing up in a world of hate, despair, and anger, and I will probably die in hate, despair, and anger. But, if a solution is found, then I will not have to live in fear. I believe that our country, the USA, and all countries shall not have to struggle through endless days of toil and strife. They should not have to feel afraid, all countries should not have to live through the living nightmare that we had to, and that the countries of this earth shall live in peace, free from any violence.
The solution to finding and keeping world peace begins with the United Nations. This great organization of countries is the first step in getting peace. If I were in the UN I would place more priority on maintaining and obtaining world peace in the world. If the funds from the countries supporting the UN run low, then I would conduct fund-raising drives to sustain the programs. This would be the beginning of my solution. I would also write to leaders of all nations and urge them to create better programs for peace and a better relief service plan. We must be the change we wish to see, a famous person once said, and indeed, we shall be the change in finding and defending world peace.
Everyday, more people start to suffer, like East Timorese, like Yugoslavians, and also Americans. We have to stop this, and stop it now.

Here, in the United States, we have some good things and some that is not as great every day. We have a great homeland security system, but there are still some things that we cannot control and that just happen to slip by. For example, we had the attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City. I do not think there was ever anything that happened in the United States and to its people that was as harmful and devastating as the attack on September 11.
Americas response to the attack was to retaliate against the Taliban (the people who committed the act of terror). They bombed them trying not to harm all others living in their home, Afghanistan. Some people say that we should not have retaliated, since we were just creating more violence in the world. I think it was the right thing to do because it was effective and there have not been any attacks since.
Now that the Taliban has been taken care of there is only one big problem still to solve. There are many children and adults all starving in Afghanistan and other places in the world.
Starvation is a very big problem all around the world. It is such a big problem that I think it is starting to kill off part of a certain group of people mostly in the Middle East. Their government either cannot or will not support them. The United States may be able to help them. They need to send people over to the Middle East to get them to go to a different place or to try harder to support themselves. That is what I think on the topic of starvation and world peace

I think that a positive future would be having enough food for everyone, saving the rainforests so everyone will be able to share them, and stopping all the violence in the world. Give wealth and food with others, saving our Earth, whom has so graciously let us live on her for so many years. Instead of wasting food, you could give it to people that don't have alot of food or money to buy it. You can also strive to get the rainforests protected by the governments that own them.
But, instead, we fight amongst each other. We are killing many every year, and tearing down our rainforest like it is a bunch of old trees. As we fight, we are not just destroying people around us; we are destroying the very places we have lived for so long.
We need to stop the killing and destroying of our home and work together to face the larger problems facing all of us. We need to stop the hunger and the spread of diseases when we have the medication to stop it. We need to find better ways to run cars without pollution and find a better way to build homes than building homes on our rainforests, which have provided plants to stop diseases and maybe more that we haven't found.
I think it is great that so many people make huge organizations to bring about peace in the world. But, you don't have to do that. All you have to do is help at a local soup kitchen, donate time or money to the Red Cross, or even join the Peace Corp and go to a third world country and help the people there with the knowledge you bring. As you see, it's not that hard to save the world--just give a little effort and you'll help the entire world become a better place to live.

Quality of life is such an important thing. My friends and family mean so much to me that, that alone would be enough for me to say is the quality of my life. Unfortunately, some things are more important in life that just your family and friends. The right to be treated with equality is very important. More and more people are being given more rights and equality. But not everyone has full rights.
My goal is that, in the future, everyone around the world will have equal rights. Not only about equality with others, but with religion also. People could help to do this by not having prejudice and allowing for this change. This little thing I think is a good start for peoples quality of life. If you do not have respect from others just for who you are, it is harder to be all that you can be.
If everyone were given the chance to be all that they could be, then the world would be a better place. It would give everyone the chance to add what he or she can to the world. This would be a positive thing for the future. Then, if people could all work in harmony about things without conflict of stupid thing we might be able to fix so many things in the world--like cancer or other illnesses like AIDS.
We could also help to minimize violence and help with world cooperation. Then things like trade and peace would prosper. The world would have so much good come out of having a simple thing like equal rights and respect. If we could achieve this for the future the quality of life would be much better. Taking this step will help fix our other problems, and make the world a better place.

America's quality of life is something we all take for granted. When compared to other countries we live like kings. Most of us take what we have and still complain. No matter what, we will always find something to complain about.
The past few years I have volunteered at an outreach program in one of the worst places in Philadelphia. The kids there had mothers whom went to bars all night and spent any money they had on cigarettes. If they even had a father around, he was most likely abusive. It was amazing how kind the kids were. The kids were in horrible conditions yet they didn't complain about any thing.
When you see the conditions that these kids are in, it really makes you feel lucky for what you have. These kids are in pretty bad schools and will probably never go to college. Their education is affecting their whole life. Their children will end up in the same situation they were in.
Unfortunately, it is an unending cycle and until someone changes it, it will continue. They get two meals a day provided by the city and that's about all they get. Even though it's a meal it is a very sad excuse for food. I see homeless people scattered on the street. They are begging for money, food and anything else they can get. It's my hope that sometime in the near future that America will change. In order for that to change everyone needs to contribute. It will never change if everyone continues to lay it on the people who need help. They cant help themselves. We need to take action.

The world today is a horrible place that we take for granted. Yes, there are some wonderful events happening but that does not even compare to the disadvantages that some people have today. We try to take pride and have optimistic attitudes toward what is happening but we are just insecure with the problems that are happening to the world and us.
If I could make a change, I would show everybody that these things are really happening and make them fix it. These things can be changed and we have the power to change it. Only if we think we can change the world, which is when the change will happen.
Now, everything in the world is not bad, like those wonderful events that can be helpful to this cause. Also, people can be very open-minded about this subject. Some people do worry about these nuisances, and those are the people will start the change.
We can make this world a better place if we can cooperate with each other better than we already doing and make changes in our habits. Bad habits have bad results, good habits have good results, but great habits have great results and those great habits are what we have to perform to make this a better world.
What I am saying is that we can make this difference if we try with good habits and good attitudes.

I feel that I am very lucky to have the life that I have. I know that some people are not as lucky as I am. I watch TV and see a lot of those people. They are really skinny because they are not fed well. I dont know why they dont have food, but I would really like to help them. Some people live out on the street. I really havent seen them but I know that they are out there.
If I could change anything, I would get rid of all of the people in jail that tried or did hurt kids. Some times its not even that. The father could hurt the mother right in front of the child. Or sometimes its the other way around. Ive even seen it happen. Then, after that happens, the child gets violent and you have more bad people to deal with. Its just that people dont realize what that does to children.
Even movies today do it. People can make the movies if they want, but the parent of a child should follow the movie ratings. People I know, who are my age (which is 12 soon to be 13), have seen R-rated movies. Children our age should not be exposed to that.
Another wish I have is that everyone is treated equal. People are judged by how heavy or skinny they are. If somebody is over-weight, people should not make fun of them. Its not their fault. Another way that people are not treated equal is by their skin color. That does not mean that we should treat them badly. My last and final wish is that people will not get sick with AIDS or any other disease because my aunt died of cancer.
